January Favs and Fails!

Hello lovelies! I know it’s been a while since my last post, but I promise I will start with a regular posting schedule as soon as possible! Last week the opera I was in had tech week and then it opened and I started student teaching. But, I’m finally getting into a schedule and a groove and I will try to start posting regularly starting next week!

So for today, I’d like to share with you all of the products I tried in January and let you know how what I loved and think you should own and what I don’t think is worth trying.

Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation
This foundation changed my entire life. GUYS. It’s amazing. It does exactly as it promised, it keeps me matte all day and I have huge pores next to my nose and you would never know because this foundation makes them disappear. I get the shade 322 Warm Honey and it’s a perfect match. It’s definitely a medium coverage but is a little buildable. I am obsessed with this foundation and I don’t ever want to try another one because I love it so much.

LUSH R&B Hair Moisturizer
HAIR GAME CHANGER. I had heard so many good things about this product and they’re all completely true. If you have 3b/3c hair like I do, then this stuff will change your life. To be honest, I didn’t love the smell when I first got it, but it has grown on me. It’s got organic avocado butter, oatmeal, olive oil, extra virgin coconut oil, jojoba oil, and candelilla wax which are all AMAZING for natural hair. I will go over my haircare routine in another post but this is what I use as the first step in the LOC method and my hair has never been smoother or bouncier!

LUSH Herbalism Face and Body Cleanser
I have only used this product as a face cleanser, but let me tell you, it’s amazing for my face. It’s made of kaolin clay, ground almonds, rose absolute, sage oil, rice bran, rosemary, nettle, and chamomile which is the oddest mashup of ingredients, but it works wonders. It is AMAZING at tackling and battling super oily skin like mine. It also has an interesting smell that I didn’t like, but I don’t mind it too much now. I recommend taking your makeup off with something before you wash with this product, however, because it will not remove any makeup.

Fresh Rose Face Mask
This was the first half of my birthday gift from Sephora, and surprisingly, I really liked it! I know I ranted and raved about how much I dislike the smell of rose water, and this is a rose mask, however the scent is pretty minimal so I can tolerate it. The mask itself, however, is just such a cooling and and relaxing mask. It’s great for those long, stressful days when you just want to relax!

Befine Skin Care Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15
So, when I ordered my face cleanser that I love, I decided to grab a sample of this moisturizer because I wanted something with SPF and I love this company. However, I was really disappointed to not like this product. It smelled purely like sunscreen and had the same thick consistency. It also just didn’t sink into the skin and make my face feel moisturized like any other cream I’ve used had. All around it was a fail and I will not be repurchasing.

Clinique Superbalanced Foundation
So this foundation I got in a sample size with one of my orders from Sephora. The shade I got was absolutely not the right color, but I’m not even judging that when I tell you how horrible this product is. It was a really light coverage and was not buildable. Also, by the end of the day, the foundation had separated all over my face, especially my forehead and chin. It looked horrible. And I used a primer, set it with powder, and used my setting spray. Even worse, I was the shiniest I have ever been, this did nothing for oil control. If you have oily skin I would definitely steer clear of this foundation.

Fresh Soy Face Cleanser
This was the other half of my birthday gift from Sephora and I was really excited to try it! It wasn’t horrible and I will use up the container until it’s gone, however,  it wasn’t great. It washed my face fine but it left my skin feeling super greasy after I used it and I despise that feeling!

And that’s it loves! Thanks for sticking around for this post, I hope you try  (or don’t try) some of the products I’ve mentioned!!

Love and light,
